Week 43, Day 304, February 25, 2010, Snow Storm

We're in the middle of a snow storm, and it's very beautiful as the snow sticks to the trees and everything else.  It was snowing fairly hard when I took this photo.  The snow flakes are evident in the pool of water, and the haze in the distance.

Although this is my favorite photo of the day, I also took a few interesting photos from my office window while I was working.  The Law School is across the road from my office.  Every now and then the snow would slide off of the slate roof.  I took a couple of photos through the window to capture the avalanche.

Lessons Learned:
  • Snow Storms are incredible.  People seem joyful when they talk about them.  I'm in awe of the beauty.
  • I return to this spot time and time again.  Perhaps I should use it as a theme, and photograph it in all seasons.
  • Sometimes Black and White Photography take place naturally.  I did not convert this one to black and white.
Photo details: Exposure time 1/100 sec, Aperture f/9.0, ISO 100, Focal Length 32 mm, Lens Canon EF 17-40mm, handheld.

That really is beautiful. It's snowing here too but the howling wind blows the snow off of the trees.

All our trees looked like that this morning too. I can't really do morning photography though because I have school before there's any light.

It is very beautiful Steve - nicely composed and such a feeling of serene and quiet. Love the roof avalanche shots too!

Beautiful shot Steve! I would definately like to see this scene throughout the different seasons. I love how you were able to capture the snow falling off the roof! Great shots!

I wish we had snow instead of rain! Snow makes for a better photo op than rain.
