Tonight the basketball team played in a gym that has bleachers right under the baskets. I was able to sit front and center, and use my fast 50 mm lens. It was a great place to sit and be near the action.
I've never shot a whole baketball game with this lens. I think it worked fairly well. The lens isn't as fast at the autofocus as some of my more expensive lenses but it seems to do fairly well.
Lessons Learned:
- I may try this lens more often in games.

Cool shot!
You could probably try switching down to 800 or 400 ISO, then shooting at your widest aperture if you pre-focused the lens at a likely action spot manually. I've read that you end up with better action shots with fast-moving things if you pre-focus on an area that will likely contain a good subject at some point.
hello... hapi blogging... have a nice day! just visiting here....
I am loving your sports/action shots - the lighting is great, sharp, great focus, crisp action, stopped in midair; they are looking really good!! I can clearly see your journey becoming perfection with these type of shots since some of your earlier basketball posts. Very fun photographs! I don't have much opportunity to photograph sports, but I'd love to try this sometime.
As for your comment on my last post, I responded as a comment in my same post regarding your question about my photo. Thank you!

It seems to be working just fine!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your dear ones!
