Week 32, Day 230, December 9, 2009, Mystery Photo

My creativity is running low tonight, so I decided for a "Mystery Photo Night".

Can you guess what this is?  Post your guess in the comments.  Kari, don't answer because I know you know.  If nobody guesses by tomorrow evening, Kari will reveal the answer. (or I will if she is working, and can't get to a computer)

I look forward to hearing your answers.

Lessons Learned:
  • Creativity comes and goes.  Tonight it was gone.
No photo details because that may depict a scale.

I would say either ferret/rabbit food (pellets) or sawdust pellets for a heater.

is it space age compressed whey protein for intergalactic power lifters?

Horse feed (pellets)

Looks a lot like the Feline Pine (or similar generic brand) our cats favor in one particular box.

Looks to me like animal/rabbit feed pellets. Maybe dog food? Hmmm... fun photo though... :)

That would be environmentally-friendly cat litter, made from pine sawdust, unless I'm much mistaken :)

Food pellets! We fed such pellets to our guinea pigs and now feed them to our chickens. To be fair, our chickens get fed many things. They will peck at our door until we feed them. When they are particularly insistent, their pecking sounds like rain.

That looks exactly like the food pellets I used to give my guinea pig!

I thought guinea pig pellets also as I remember when we had a guinea pig.

My guess is with the pine cat litter. My cats love that stuff vs. clay litter. :)

Ding Ding Ding- We have a winner.

It's.... "space age compressed whey protein for intergalactic power lifters"

kidding, kidding.

It's wood pellets, for the pellet stove (see http://gallow-photo-year.blogspot.com/2009/10/week-24-day-175-october-15-2009.html)

That's right Kari, and with the cold temps we've been going through a lot of them.

Thank you for all your guesses. Great work all of you.

There are hardwoods in these pellets, but I wonder if the cat little pellets would burn as well. (Although I don't think I want to burn them after the cat has used them.)

I read that Cornell Researchers are attempting to make pellets from grasses to burn for fuel.

It's late, and I haven't had a chance to go through all the basketball photos. I'll publish today's photo tomorrow.

I was going to say animal feed. But now I see they are only for pets that you do not like.

I think I beat Kari by 6 hours. When I should have working I was looking at your blog. Before I mooved to Portland I used to burn real wood in a stove. I don't miss it. You got heat twice. Once when you mooved it and once when you burned it.

RRosen, Sorry about that. I miscommunicated. I knew that Kari knew the answer, so I asked her to announce it. (Kari's my daughter). So when she said "We have a winner" she was referring to you and Joshua, and when I said "That's right Kari", I meant that she was right in proclaiming you 2 as winners.

Kari said...

Indeed that's what I meant!

Looks like pelleted food to feed to an animal.

I'm going to go with some kind of rabbit or rodent food. I've seen it before but can't remember where. Rabbit food. :-)
