Week 33, Day 237, December 16, 2009, Sunset at 4:25 PM

As I left work to catch the bus, I noticed that the skies were starting to clear on the horizon, and the sun had already moved below.  The colors were vibrant.  I don't think this photo captures the beauty, but it is still pleasant to look at.

Lessons Learned:
  • I failed at several attempts at photographing a Christmas Tree from various angles. It may not sound like a lesson, but according to Edison it is. "I haven't failed, I've found 10000 ways that don't work."  I found about 50 ways that didn't work.
Photo details: Exposure time 1/25 sec, Aperture f/9.0, ISO 100, Focal Length 39 mm, Lens Canon EF 17-40mm, handheld.

f/0.0? Heh.

And yeah. Reminds me of earlier this year. I headed out to my car to drive down to the high school, because it was performance week for the fall musical, and I had to be there at 5 every night. Anyway, I noticed that there was a completely gorgeous sunset, but I was running late, so I got in my car and rushed to the school as fast as I legally could. Unfortunately, the only pictures I got were disappointing vestiges of the sunset. Oh, well, there's another chance almost every night :)

Very nice.

And thanks for sharing your experience with the Christmas tree. I shot some holiday lights on my way home from Aikido, but I didn't like how they came out. I was glad that I at least stopped on my way home and tried.

It is a wonderful sunset.
The just sunk color is beautiful.

Seeing from this high place really, I would be impressed more.

Thank you for showing splendid scenery.

From the Far East.
Greetings.

My attempts to capture sunrise and sunset with my phonecam are always a disaster. They never look remotely like what I saw. Your shot, however, looks great.

To me sunset and sunrise is the most difficult things to get right. But I keep trying...

Andrew, Thank you for noticing the f0.0. It's an incredible new lens. lol. I just fixed the typo. It was a fstop of 9.0.

Thank you everybody else for your great comments.

Beautiful shot still, sunsets are amazing at all points in their short time.

Too funny about the Christmas tree, I've don't that with a few things and just end up trashing them. Uff!

I seem to get lucky with the dogs, or catch them tired. Usually they are either looking at me (or the implied treat) or running off.
