This is the first in probably a series. I'm going to try and take different types of photos from the cellar.
Lessons learned:
- I think that the cellar has interesting potential. It has a dirt floor, interesting walls, lots of spider webs, and old tools. I think that somehow the places that we don't spend a lot of time are the most interesting to photograph.

That's cool, I like the monochrome. If I didn't know better, I would say that picture was taken with a really really old film camera.
I have a cellar just like yours, Steve. I hate going down there and no tools of the trade around. I will have to look for a place that is cool to take pics around here.

Regarding your question about the timing of the icicle drop photos. It took about a minute to narrow down the right shutter speed and F-stop. Then I took a few shots and I think I only missed one of the drops. :)
I am usually drawn in to those type of photos, dimly-lit, creepy places, urban decay, etc. I don't have a cellar where I live, but I do agree that great photo opportunities exist in the places we normally don't like to spend our time. When I think about places where I shoot, they are places that I love - the coast, nature, the mountains, my home - places where I feel comfortable and blissful. I should try to shoot in places where I don't feel comfortable. Brilliant idea! I like the feel of your cellar shot, and look forward to your series.
Your cellar has loads of potential, Steve, if this image is anything to go by, It works so well in sepia.
I would love to see what you can do with the milk-can. It has a lovely shape.

Please continue the series Steve. This first one is a great image. You really capture the feel, the mood with the wonderful textures and tones. Sepia works well here.
